Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS) is an engineering design-based service learning and social entrepreneurship program that incorporates the engineering and human-centered design processes in providing solutions to real world problems facing society today. Students work on real-world projects with both local and global community partners with a social-focus on either community development, health, sustainability, and/or education.

Leadership: Mr. Dana R. Chappell, designer, futurist, humanitarian, entrepreneur, and retired CEO

Dana R. Chappell, is the retired CEO of Ocean Wings U.A.S., Inc., an “Aero-nautical”, maritime UAV engineering corporation, and the designer and patent holder of the corporation’s signature product, the ASR-80. The ASR-80, an unmanned semi-autonomous aerial rescue vehicle, was designed for the commercial maritime industry to provide both rapid piracy deterrence, and perform semi-autonomous search rescue capabilities at sea. The Ocean Wings U.A.S., Corp. was acquired by a private military contractor, and subsequently dissolved back in 2017.

Mr. Chappell is now the coordinating director of Environmental Development & Associates, PSC a Professional Service & Scientific Collaborative, (Email: dr.chappell@EDAPSC.org ),providing both academic and design guidance to emerging professionals within the fields of Engineering, Architecture, and Environmental Sustainability. Mr. Chappell retired from the architectural profession back in 2009 to pursue his other design passions and business interests, to quote Mr. Chappell;

"Being a business entrepreneur and environmental designer has afforded me the opportunity to pursue many other design passions, humanitarian interests, and political objectives. I performed my graduate studies/work under the tutelage of professor/architect Dr. Eugene Ray, who lead the Environmental Design Dept. of SDSU back in the late 70's & 80's.  Professor Ray was a brilliant environmental design engineer, futurist, and visionary who developed environmentally sustainable architectural designs way ahead of their time. With the effects of global climate change now becoming apparent, the work of Environmental Designers and Scientist's like professor Ray is finally being recognized and taken seriously."

Leadership: Professor Jared Schoepf, PhD, Director of the EPICS program

Professor Jared Schoepf is the Director of Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS) at Arizona State University, and the interim PI, for NSF preliminary program solicitation 21-596.  Jared  received his PhD in Chemical Engineering at ASU, developing a tiered approach to rapidly detect nanomaterials in the environment and other consumer products. Jared has been a lecturer of EPICS since 2017, mentoring over 200 teams. Currently he teaches introduction to engineering, EPICS, and introduction to chemical engineering processes. He has founded 2 starts ups and has 3 patents for water purification, removal of trash from storm water, and Dial’s antibacterial liquid hand soap formula. He also has a passion for teaching and mentoring students, aiming to help each student achieve their life goals. In his free time Jared loves to go hiking, backpacking, and snowboarding.

Rickey Frazier, ASU Pro-EPICS PM


Rickey is a highly motivated and driven engineering graduate student currently pursuing a master's degree in Systems Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering since March 2014 from Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan.


Before joining ASU, Rickey worked as a Battery Quality Expert at Vinfast in Hanoi, Vietnam, in the Quality and Product Development Division. In this role, he worked on the Electric Vehicle (EV) Battery programs and designs, reviewed engineering change requests, and coordinated and collaborated with various teams on project work packages. Before Vinfast, he served as a Lead Quality Engineering Technician at Tesla where he led a team in root cause investigations, containments, projects, and validation/verification procedures for product quality in the Model 3/Y battery module automation manufacturing lines.


His career interests are in Process and Product Development, Project Management, Continuous Improvement, and Systems Engineering.

Manan Gor, ASU Pro-EPICS Team Lead


Manan is a highly motivated and data driven engineering graduated in Master's in Management of Technology from Arizona State University. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering with 4+ years of industrial experience.


Before joining EPICS, Manan had worked in 3 companies in supply chain & data analytics fields. He was responsible for developing and implementing supply chain strategies to optimize inventory levels, reduce costs, and improve overall operational efficiency. He utilized advanced analytical tools and techniques to forecast demand, monitor inventory levels, and identify potential bottlenecks in the supply chain. Additionally, he collaborated closely with cross-functional teams, including procurement, production, and logistics, to ensure seamless coordination and alignment of supply chain activities. Through his expertise in data analysis and process improvement, he successfully implemented several initiatives that resulted in significant cost savings and improved customer satisfaction.


His career interests are in Data Analytics, Supply Chain Analytics, Continuous Improvement, and Project Management.


Manan started as a project manager (Team Lead) in the ECTS project from November 2023.

Aman Gaba, ASU Pro-EPICS Team Member


Aman is a dynamic Aerospace Engineer, with a strong foundation in quality control, manufacturing, and project management. With a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Technology in Automobile Engineering from Manipal University Jaipur, Aman brings a diverse skill set to the table.

Aman's professional journey includes a notable stint as a Quality Control Intern at Action Construction Equipment in Palwal, India. Here, he led internal quality audits, implemented data-driven improvements, and applied lean manufacturing principles, resulting in significant reductions in production time, defect rates, and a boost in overall productivity.

Aman's project portfolio showcases his analytical and problem-solving prowess. Notably, his analysis of the Propellant Feed System on the RS-25 Rocket Engine, Regression Analysis for Energy Demand, and Modeling and Simulation of Thermo-Electric Cooler highlights his contributions to aerospace engineering and energy-related research. Furthermore, Aman has developed a MATLAB-based parametric tool for Ramjet Propulsion Analysis, conducted CFD analysis of turbulence models, and contributed to research on mechanisms for methane combustion. His expertise extends to experimental analysis of composite laminates, materials characterization, and 8D Problem Solving methodologies.

Beyond academia, Aman has actively participated in extracurricular activities, including spearheading a Covid-19 vaccination drive and leading a team in the restoration of a go-kart, showcasing his commitment to community service and leadership skills. His design and engineering abilities were highlighted in the creation of a battery-powered glider for the Boeing National Aeromodelling Competition in India.

Aman  is a dedicated professional with a proven track record of academic excellence, technical proficiency, and impactful contributions to projects and initiatives. His unique blend of skills and experiences positions him as an asset in the aerospace and engineering domains. 

Sai Chandan Busireddy, ASU Pro-EPICS Team Member


Sai Chandan is a highly driven professional with a master's degree in construction management and technology from Arizona State University. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and has two years of construction experience.


Sai formerly worked in a construction company, where he specialized in project management. In this job, he played a key role in developing and implementing scheduling techniques that benefited General Contractors' preconstruction, operations, and marketing. Using complex tools such as AutoCAD and Primavera, he displayed experience in scheduling, and effectively implementing initiatives that resulted in significant cost reductions and increased customer satisfaction.



His career goals include Scheduling, Construction Technology, and Project Management, where he hopes to apply his talents and experiences for continuing professional development.






Karthik Varma Mudunuri, ASU Pro-EPICS Team Member


Karthik is an ambitious individual who possesses a master's degree in construction management and technology from Arizona State University. He possesses a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and has accumulated two years of experience in the field of construction.


Karthik formerly served in a construction firm, focusing on project management. He played a pivotal role in developing and implementing scheduling techniques that provided significant benefits to General Contractors in preconstruction, operations, and marketing. Karthik showcased expertise in utilizing advanced software such as Primavera P6 for efficient scheduling management, resulting in successful project execution, noteworthy cost savings, and enhanced customer satisfaction.



His career aspirations encompass Scheduling, Construction Technology, and Project Management, where he aims to utilize his skills and experiences to further his professional growth.












Jyothish Ottikunta, ASU Pro-EPICS Team Member


Jyothish, a determined guy, earned a master's degree in construction management and technology from Arizona State University. In addition, he has a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and two years of useful construction experience.


Jyothish was an important project Engineer while working for a construction company. In his previous role at Balaji Developers in Bengaluru, India, he excelled in project scheduling, control, and value chain analysis, achieving a notable 11% cost and material flow optimization. His expertise extends to creating technical shop drawings, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring projects adhere to budget constraints.



Jyothish's professional goals concentrate on scheduling, construction technology, and project management. He is excited to use his abilities and experiences to propel his professional growth in these domains.












Arjun Chekke Katil, ASU Pro-EPICS Team member


Having completed his Master's degree in Construction Management and Technology at Arizona State University, Arjun is enthusiastic about the construction industry and he holds a Bachelor of Architecture and Planning from India.

In his Bachelor’s, he truly did not botch any chance to indulge in practical experiences, whether in academics or extraxcurricular. In the 5th semester, he voluntarily assisted a team of 5 from his batch in completing their real-time project of creating a recreational area in an abandoned space filled with garbage in the central city. Apart from drafting the sections and drawing details using Auto-Cad, working on this project for nearly 6 months, he even got a chance to visit the site (every 2 hours after college), where he worked on the asbuilts.  


During his undergrad, he also worked as an intern architect for  4 months assisting in drafting commercial and residential projects. Just After he completed his bachelor's degree, he worked as a junior architect for 6 months mainly focussed on designing residential projects by using Sketchup, and Revit software. Later he got more interest in construction management and worked as a project engineer for one year.


He is also certified with OSHA 30, Construction Quality Management for Contractors, and American Redcross Lifeguard and CPR

Abhipsa Dey,  ASU Pro-EPICS Team Member

Abhipsa Dey, a highly creative and dedicated architect, holds a master's degree in architecture from Arizona State University. She honed her skills during her undergraduate years at Amity University Chhattisgarh, focusing on design, planning, and visualization.

Abhipsa has made a mark through a diverse range of projects, spanning residential, commercial, and cultural buildings, along with urban and landscape design. Proficient in software tools like AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, and Photoshop, she combines traditional expertise with modern technology.

What sets Abhipsa apart is her eagerness to explore new architectural trends and technologies, from sustainable and parametric design to digital fabrication. She is on a constant quest to create spaces that enhance the quality of life for individuals and communities.

With her education, experience, and forward-thinking approach, Abhipsa Dey is poised to be a pivotal figure in the future of architecture, promising innovative and impactful design solutions.

Abhipsa joined the EPICS ECCS research project team in October of 2023. Abhipsa's project interests are rooted in sustainability, as she is dedicated to creating eco-friendly structures. She also delves into parametric design, utilizing algorithms for dynamic architectural forms. Her enthusiasm for digital fabrication and embracing innovative technologies ensures her projects are at the cutting edge of architectural innovation. Most importantly, she aims to enhance communities' and individuals' quality of life through her design work.


Sathyanarayanan, ASU Pro-EPICS Team Member

Sathyanarayanan is a recent graduate from ASU with a Master's in Civil, Environmental and Sustainable Engineering with specialization in Sustainable Engineering. 

Sathya is interested in Corporate Sustainability, Greenhouse gas accounting and other concepts in Sustainability like Carbon Capture and Storage, Life Cycle Assessments and Climate Change. He did an internship with Waste Management's Sports and Entertainment Advisory Team and works in Scope 3 Emission calculations for Golfing Tournaments such as the PGA tours and Rocket Mortgage Classic. 

During his Master's he did an applied project on finding relation between deforestation and how it is related to a Country's GDP, population and forest area. This project involved data collection, data analysis and research about deforestation.

Sathya joined the ECTS project during Fall 2023 and is currently a member of the team.

Nanditha Porika, ASU Pro-EPICS Team Member

Nanditha Porika is a highly motivated and accomplished graduate student pursued a Master of Engineering in Chemical Engineering at Arizona State University. With a strong academic background and a passion for innovation and sustainability, she is a dedicated and goal-oriented individual. Nanditha's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from the University College of Technology, Osmania University, where she maintained an impressive academic record.

The research experiences include developing fermentation media and conducting High-Performance Liquid Chromatography tests for chemical conversion optimization as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Bio Design lab. She has also conducted research in Direct Air Capture (DAC) and advanced modeling techniques as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Centre for Negative Carbon Emissions. Her internships at Premier Explosive Limited and ONGC have provided her with valuable experience in explosives and manufacturing processes, emphasizing safety and compliance with industry standards. Proficiency in tackling complex engineering challenges. She has actively engaged with organizations and presented her work at conferences, demonstrating her commitment to sustainable engineering solutions.

She has also actively participated in workshops and holds certifications, highlighting her dedication to professional development and her involvement with organizations such as YUCTA, where she served as Treasurer. She has presented her work at the American Institution of Chemical Engineering (AICHE) conference, emphasizing her commitment to sustainable practices in chemical engineering and the transformation of waste materials into useful products for the betterment of the world and future generations.

With a strong educational background, practical experience, and a commitment to sustainability, Nanditha Porika is a dynamic and dedicated individual poised to make significant contributions in the field of chemical engineering. Her passion for innovation and sustainable solutions sets her apart as a promising engineer and researcher.



Salamun Ahmed Abrar A Azmathullah, ASU Pro-EPICS Team Member


Salamun is a results-oriented Industrial Engineer with a passion for Lean principles and data-driven decision making. He possesses a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from Arizona State University, along with a Bachelor of Engineering in Robotics and Automation from Anna University. Throughout his career, Salamun has demonstrated expertise in implementing process improvement initiatives, leveraging Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, and a comprehensive arsenal of data analysis tools and techniques.

Salamun's career interests revolve around Continuous Improvement, Quality Control, Data Analytics, and Supply Chain Management, showcasing a holistic approach to industrial engineering and management.

Salamun joined the ECTS project team in December 2023 and is currently engaged in the task of budgeting.


Daniela Rojas, ASU Pro-EPICS Team Member 

Daniela Rojas is a highly motivated bilingual Chemical Engineering graduate from Arizona State University, graduating magna cum laude in May 2023. Daniela brings a wealth of experience in collaborative engineering projects, showcasing excellent work ethic, communication, and problem-solving skills.


During her academic journey, Daniela excelled in various technical skills, including data analysis and modeling tools such as MATLAB, ChemCAD, Simulink, and Excel. Her proficiency extends to technical reporting, oral and written communication, time and project management, and adaptability. Additionally, she holds certifications from the SaChE Certificate Program. 


Beyond her academic achievements, Daniela has shared her knowledge as an Undergraduate Teacher Assistant for Introduction to Engineering & Chem E. Laboratory. In this role, she conducted detailed final term project review sessions and developed proficiency in laboratory techniques, as well as built lasting relationships with esteemed faculty. 


Daniela Rojas is driven by a passion to create solutions, she joined the ECCS project in November of 2023 and is currently working on the website development aspect. 

Mrudula Ramayanam Pro-EPICS Team Member


Mrudula is a recent master's graduate student from Arizona State University with a degree in civil environmental and sustainable engineering. And have a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. Mrudula is proficient in Autocad, civil 3D, ArcGIS, LCA, and surveying. 

Before joining EPICS Mrudula did an internship as a field engineer in which she used to prepare estimations and surveying the road. She also has experience in water treatment and storm water management and gained knowledge in storm water water management while working in a municipal corporation in India. 

With a passion for ArcGIS Mrudula has done a few projects in undergrad using ArcGIS and Remote sensing I identified artificial recharge structures. And in my master's I have done a project which helps reduce carbon emissions by adding biochar to replace cement and asphalt. 

Mrudula is also certified with OSHA 40HRS HAZPOWER, OSHA 10HRS construction, and Six Sigma Yellow Belt.

Rajath Raju, ASU Pro-EPICS Team Member


Rajath is a highly motivated professional who holds a master’s in construction management and technology from Arizona State University. He possesses a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering and has three years of industrial experience.

 

Prior to joining EPICS, Rajath worked in two companies focusing on Virtual Design and Construction. In these roles, he was instrumental in devising and executing BIM strategies that significantly benefited preconstruction, operations, QA/QC, and marketing for General Contractors. Utilizing advanced software like Autodesk REVIT, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and Primavera, he demonstrated expertise in BIM and Scheduling, successfully implementing initiatives that led to substantial cost savings and improved client satisfaction.

 

His career aspirations revolve around BIM, Scheduling, Construction Technology, and Project Management, where he aims to leverage his skills and experiences for continued professional growth.




Shreyas Nataraj, ASU Pro-EPICS Team Member

Shreyas is a recent graduate with a master's degree in Computer Engineering from Arizona State University (ASU). He holds a bachelor's degree from National Institute of Engineering, Mysuru, India focusing on Electronics and communication. 

Prior to joining ASU, He has worked as a Embedded Engineer for two years at Robert Bosch in Bengaluru, India. He has worked on various projects on Digital design and computer Architecture. His Career interests are in Physical Design, RTL design and micro-architecture.

He has joined ECTS team as a member from October 2023.

Mohammad Alkhuwaiteem,  ASU Pro-EPICS Team Member


Mohammad is a master’s level Mechanical Engineer with interest in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and solar thermal power. 

He got his bachelor’s and master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State University (ASU) in August 2019 and December 2021.

For his master’s thesis, Mohammad focused on researching the Fresnel lens solar concentrator application in increasing the temperature of quicklime (CaO) with zero carbon emissions for a new production process of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC)

His current career interests are in the fields of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and renewable energy.

Mohammad's role in the ECTS project is conducting solar and heat analysis on the glazed border wall and the added greenhouses. 

Mohammad participated in the ECTS since Spring 2022 and still a member of the team.

Mishaal Aljuraid, ASU Pro-EPICS Team Member


Mishaal obtained his master's degree from Arizona State University (ASU) in May of 2022 in Civil, Environmental and Sustainable Engineering with specialized in Environmental Engineering. His bachelor's degree in Chemistry science was awarded in June 2015 from King Faisal University (KFU), Saudi Arabia.

Before joining ASU, he worked as a Chemical analyst for Kubota Saudi Arabia Company, where he contributed towards to the quality control of pipe production lines by examining samples and writing laboratory reports.

During his academic career he was involved in multiple projects. These projects included analyzing, investigating, and designing using Excel and other softwares to provide and improve environmental health and people safety.

His current career interests are researching and designing the aquaculture system and improving the water treatment and recycle of it.

Usham Sabarwal, ASU Pro-EPICS Team Member

Usham is a recent graduate from ASU with a Master's in Engineering Management. He has a Bachelor's in Electronics Engineering and has worked in the embedded systems and hardware development domain.

A creative and analytical individual skilled in project management, quantitative and qualitative research methods, and instructional design best practices. He is familiar with Agile principles, Scrum framework, and Six Sigma process improvement methods. Usham considers himself a life-long learner and is always striving to develop his professional skills. Highly-collaborative, positive, adaptive, driven, and organized. He possesses strong interpersonal, oral, written, and visual communication skills and is able to navigate ambiguity to find creative solutions to challenging problems. Usham enjoys working with stakeholders to define project scope, strategy, budget, and outcomes. He has a strong enthusiasm for metrics, data, and timelines and is eager to initiate and drive projects forward.

Abdulrahman Alfailakawi,  ASU Pro-EPICS Team Member


Abdulrahman obtained his master's degree from Arizona State University (ASU) in December of 2021 in Mechanical Engineering. 

His bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering was awarded in August of 2019 from Arizona State University (ASU).

During his academic career Abdulrahman was involved in multiple projects. These Project include NASA RS-25 engine analysis, testing the effect of various turbulent models, examining performance of Ram/Scramjet engine parameters and design of mechanic safety creeper.  

His current career interests are Semiconductor chips processes and Thermodynamics.

His role in this project includes 3D modeling, Structural Design, and CAD design using SolidWorks. 

Abdulrahman participated in the ECTS since Spring 2022 and is still a member of the team.

Athul Muraleedharan Sudha,  ASU Pro-EPICS Team Member


Athul received his master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University (ASU) in May 2021.

He was a graduate teaching assistant with the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at ASU for Analog and Digital Circuits during the spring semester of 2021. 

Before joining ASU, he worked as a circuit design intern for FOSSEE, IIT Bombay (India), where he contributed to developing an open-source EDA tool, eSim.

He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from VIT University (India) in 2018.

As part of his undergraduate thesis, he designed a MIMO antenna system with the least mutual coupling employing metamaterials.

His current career interests lie in analog and digital circuit design.

Bibil Jose,  ASU Pro-EPICS Team Member

Graduated from APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University with a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and am pursuing my Masters degree at Arizona State University in Industrial Engineering. The relevant courses I did for my bachelors include: Thermal Engineering, Heat and Mass Transfer, Advanced Energy Engineering and Environment Impact Assessments. And as for my masters degree I would like to specialize in Operations Research

During my bachelors, I had participated in 'Sustainable Energy Championship 2019' which was jointly hosted by IEEE, PES and SEEM Kerala would be a great . In this event each team were tasked with auditing a test of 10 homes, calculating their total energy consumption, evaluated EPI  and finally suggesting ways in which energy consumption could be reduced. The methods suggested was unique for each home and had also taken into account the ROI in places where installation of solar panels and changes in equipments were considered.

I had also successfully completed my Energy Management & Conservation Internship at Internship Studio, where I showed a profound understanding of energy conservation and management principles. Throughout the internship, I meticulously analyzed electricity consumption patterns in the textile industry, aiming to identify potential avenues for reducing energy costs. Employing advanced data analysis techniques and employing strategic optimization strategies, I implemented a range of energy-saving measures that yielded remarkable reductions in bills. 

I believe that my adeptness in utilizing analytical tools, coupled with my proactive problem-solving approach and effective communication skills, positions me as a valuable asset in the realm of energy management and conservation and also in this project.

Enakshi Sarkar, ASU Pro-EPICS Team Member 


Enakshi is a dedicated and meticulous student pursuing her Master's degree in Materials Science and Engineering at Arizona State University. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering since August 2021, from Manipal Institute of Technology in India. 


She is proficient at programming languages such as MATLAB, Java and C++, and drafting, design and modelling using AutoCAD. She also has previous experience using ASPEN to optimize the process design for different industrial operations. She has obtained industry certifications in Basic Metallurgy and Bulk Material Handling in India. 


As an undergraduate student from 2017 to 2021, Enakshi has contributed to laboratory scale industrial research involving carbon nanomaterials. Her experience includes optimizing temperature and time parameters, for developing isotropic carbon fiber precursor samples, using coal tar and coal tar pitch as raw materials. She has also worked to develop biodegradable adhesive formulation prototypes, using different grades of graphene powder, for the food packaging industry. 


Prior to joining ASU, Enakshi had worked as a Quality-Analyst intern at a boutique consulting firm in India. She has analyzed several cases related to manufacturing safety incidents and challenges in product development, in various industries such as steel making, semiconductors and information technology. Based on this analysis, she has designed the content for digital training modules for her clients.


As a graduate student in Materials Science and Engineering, Enakshi is very keen on learning and understanding different materials characterization techniques. She is passionate about using her experience with design and simulation, along with her interest in materials characterization, to develop efficient products for electronics and energy conversion and storage.

Sakshi Panchal, ASU Pro-EPICS Team Member


Sakshi Panchal is a highly educated engineer with a Bachelor's in Aeronautical Engineering from Gujarat Technological University and currently pursuing a Master's in Mechanical Engineering at Arizona State University.


Sakshi has gained significant experience in various roles throughout her career as a mechanical engineer. She was a Research Assistant at the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering, conducting thermal-fluid and 3D CFD/heat transfer simulations. At Aircom Instrumentation Ltd., served as a Project Assistant, analyzing heat transfer in industrial furnaces using ANSYS simulations. Before that, Sakshi worked as a CAD Designer at Vision Polymer and as a Design Engineer Trainee at Topland Engines, where she gained expertise in detailed design, fabrication drawings, and prototype development. Her professional experience showcases her design, simulation, and engineering analysis proficiency.


Sakshi has made valuable contributions to diverse projects, including Geostrophic and Thermal Wind Balances in the Real Atmosphere, Aircraft Wing Designing, CFD Analysis Of Compressor Blade Stalling, and wind turbine performance. Her strong leadership and communication skills make her an asset in mechanical engineering.

She is keenly interested in Modelling and Designing, Thermodynamics, Project Management, and Continuous Improvement, which drive her career aspirations.

Shredha Kalliperintodi,  ASU Pro-EPICS Team Member


Shredha obtained her master's degree from Arizona State University (ASU) in December of 2021 in Mechanical Engineering. 

She was a graduate teaching assistant with the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at ASU from January 2021 till December 2021

Her bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering was awarded in August of 2019 from Gujarat Technological University(GTU).

Before joining ASU, she worked as a Production engineer for Ingersoll rand, where she contributed towards the production and testing of rotary type air compressor.

During her academic career was was involved in multiple projects. These Project included Mechanical design internship at Evtek inc., where she worked towards development and designing of various recycling service providing equipment.  

Her current career interests are Modeling and design of mechanical components and equipments.

Shredha participated in the ECTS project for the period from: Spring 2022 to: Mid-Summer 2022


Yagiz Ersan,  ASU Pro-EPICS Team Member


Yagiz obtained his bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University (ASU) in May of 2022 in Mechanical Engineering.

During his academic career, Yagiz was involved in multiple projects. These Projects include a compact anti-theft bicycle, design, and experiment solar thermal collector. Due to his passion for engineering and teaching others, he also worked for two years at ASU as an undergraduate teaching assistant for MAE 201 - Statics. 

His current career interests are CAD Design, Fluid dynamics, and Thermodynamics.

His role in this project includes 3D CAD design using SolidWorks and Computational Fluid Dynamics. Yagiz participated in the ECTS project in the Fall of 2022.


Bharath Kumar Pattunattu, ASU Pro-EPICS Team Member 

Bharath is a graduate student, pursuing a master’s degree in mechanical engineering at Arizona State University. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Anna University in India with an exceptional record of consistent academic excellence. Bharath is somebody who is self-driven to showcase my full potential and deliver good results. Over the years, he has gained a lot of different life and work experiences that will enable him to be a productive, honest, and effective employee and it has also helped him develop his skills to work as a team, be inclusive, patient, and be a good listener. 

Prior to joining ASU, he worked as a Mechanical Design Engineering Intern at Ashok Leyland back in India, where he interned with the design team and was assigned to do the (prototyping of the) 3D design of base engine components, connecting rods, Brake discs using CATIA V5 and do reliability analysis and BOM management from start to finish. He was also assigned to do the root cause analysis for the design right from defining the event to finding the root cause and defining the solution. Did DFMEA for connecting rod design improvements by calculating the risk priority number based on severity occurrence and detection.

He has some Journal publications in his name and takes an active interest in projects as well. Some of his key projects include Topology Optimization and Manufacturing of an Automotive Knuckle, Silicon Wafer Defect Detection System Utilizing Precision Balance Technology, Design and Manufacturing of a Miniature Stirling Engine, Multivariate Analysis from Supplier Manufacturing Process, and Optimum Approach to Reduce Carbon Footprint in the Transportation Sector.

His career interests are Product design and development, CAD, Design Optimization, Sustainability.

Abdullah Alotaibi,  ASU Pro-EPICS Team Member

Abdullah Alotaibi is A Ph.D. student in Civil, Environmental, and Sustainable Engineering, with a specialization in Energy and Sustainable Engineering, Clean Energy Technologies, Energy Modelling, Energy Transition, LCA, Earth System Engineering, and ecology, Smart Cities, Construction Engineering and Management, Carbon Capture and Storage, Sustainable Infrastructure, and Structural Design. Possesses expertise in addressing deep uncertainties, conducting risk analysis, and applying technical skills to advance sustainability objectives. Proficient in energy modeling, making sustainable engineering choices, assessing infrastructures, and energy systems, designing for sustainability, conducting Life Cycle Assessments, managing construction projects, and implementing best practices. 

Abdullah received his M.S in the same major at ASU. Abdullah is participating in the ECTS since June 2021.


Alekhya Madireddy, ASU Pro-EPICS Team Member


Alekhya is a graduate-level student from ASU. She received her master’s degree in Construction Management & Technology in May 2022 from the Del. E Webb school of construction. BShe also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from Koneru Lakshmaiah Educational Foundation, Andhra Pradesh, India.

Due to her passion for teaching, before moving to the United States in 2019, She worked as an Assistant Professor for 4 years in the Department of Civil Engineering at Andhra Loyola Institutions, Vijayawada. She has experience in teaching core courses of Civil Engineering like Engineering Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Building Planning & Drawing, Environmental Engineering, and Construction Project Management. Apart from teaching, She also handled undergraduate-level laboratory sessions for Concrete Technology and Auto CAD. Guided and reviewed various student academic projects. She likes to interact with and mentor students to achieve academic success and enhance their personal & professional growth.

She is now involved with ECTS as a team member from September 2022. Her interests in the project include detailing the model through Revit Architecture and researching glass panels, frames, and braces – the key components of the project.

Deepika Dayalan, ASU Pro-EPICS Team Member


With a Master's degree in Construction Management from Arizona State University and multiple certifications such as LEED GA, CMIT, and Procore,

I have gained valuable experience in supporting the business unit safety program, preparing the project schedule, negotiating subcontracts, and processing shop drawings and submittals for various projects.


I am eager to learn, grow, and make a meaningful impact in the construction industry by applying my skills in project scheduling, construction project management, and scopes of work. I enjoy working with diverse teams and stakeholders and contributing to the successful completion of projects that meet the client's expectations and standards. 


My goal is to further develop my expertise and knowledge in the field of construction engineering and management and to deliver high-quality results that enhance the built environment.
